What to include on your invitation?
Who the invitation is from
Is it from the parents of the person who the party is in honour of or the person themself?
Who is invited
You can leave a line to write guest names in the middle of the text or you can hand write names on the top left hand corner. Han written names are thought of as more personal.
If children are not invited you will need to indicate this formally by stating that it is an ‘Adult reception’ and you are sorry but children are not invited.
When is the party / event?
The date is stated in words if formal, not numbers other than the year, which can be either way.
Where is the celebration?
If there is to be a reception following a wedding at a separate venue, please indicate that the recipients are invited to both.
What is the Dress code?
If there is a dress code, make sure you advise i.e. Black tie
These are usually at the very bottom of the invite and are optional but advisable and should include:
1. where and who to reply to
2. reply requested by date
Try not to crowd the invitation with too much information.
Less is more from an aesthetic angle. If you have more information, add an insert with more information on it.
